I re shot some more images with Megan in the studio. I wanted to try capture more images of her stretching and to make the images unsymmetrical like the previous images. I asked Megan to wear something backless so I can capture he back and so he clothing wouldn't be a distraction from her stretching.
When capturing these images I used flash and took the front bit off the soft box so that it lite the creased and muscles of the dancer more and brought them out more.
There are two different stretches you can do with your arms behind the back as seen below. I wanted to try to capture then as they are unsymmetrical and the way it forms the body is surreal.
Below are examples
Above is an example of one of the stretching with her arms behind her back. I was aiming of getting the muscles in her back and how by her stretching behind what shape the body creates. The shadows her arm creates from the lighting makes her neck a lot thinner than it is, also I can see her chin which I find distracts you from her back so I will not be using the above image but I like the shape it creates.

The above image is the same stretch as the first image but the Megan's arm at the top is more over neck so you cannot see her neck and face. This images was captured closer so when I cropped the image it is more close up which I like but I feel you focus on her hands more than the structure of her body. Therefore, I am not going to use the image above in my final end of year exhibition.

The above image I love the structure of her her arms and her back and how by Megan doing this stretch it pushes her shoulder our more creating a surreal feel to the images. Megan's thumb is sticking out, which I find distracting and because I captured it close in the studio when I cropped the image it has zoomed in close to her so I don't like the cropped and compared to the image below I prefer the image below.
The above image is one of my favourites but if I could capture it again there is one thing I would change. There Megan's elbow is bend I would have it tucked into the crease in her other arm so they are tucked in to each other but at the same time I like how it is not tucked it, it feels more natural the stretch and not composed. I will work on bringing the highlights of the image more.

I captured the image above of Megan as I had planned but when I captured it I felt that it did not have the same effect as the image I captured with David and there is no detail it in. Whereas, Davids veins were out so gave it more detail. Megan's arms are smooth as are her legs apart form her calf muscles coming out a bit but in comparison to the other images I feel this does not have the surreal detail I was hoping to achieve.

In the previous shoot I shot with Megan, she went in to crab to stretch her back out. I asked her to perform the crab again but I wanted to get to whole shape of her body so I capture her nude so that you can see her full shape of her body and the show the beauty of stretching. The image above it unedited. I would like to smooth her bum out a lit. Also I wanted her hair to hand down but because I asked her to have her hair up it was full of hair spray so would not hang down straight so I will try to edit it so her hair blends into the background more. As well as that I will try bring out the highlights more
The above image is of the same structure but I wanted to try one images with different lighting so I had the flash go off at one side while the other was just on the model lamp so gave it some light but not too much, this way is brings out different highlights of the body on one side. Next time I would like to try have Megan straighten her arms more and straighten legs as well to see what effect is creates and this not only gives her a different shape it stretches her back out more.
I have cropped all the images square format to get rid of the open space above and I cropped the previous images with David and want all my images to match and have a square format. All the image are unedited, I have just square cropped them.
Below are contact sheets. I tried to capture not as many and to perfect the structure of position as the shoot went on. I tried to capture close up and keep in mind that I would be cropping it to square format and my idea was to have the have close ups of the back.

Overall, I am happy with the shoot, I like the images I created of Megan as I feel they are not symmetrical which is what I was wanting to achieve and that they still have a surreal feel to them especially the images of her back. I don't think I will be using the nude images of Megan s although I like the structure of her body I feel it does not have the surreal feel as it does with the images of David leaning over.
I have some 4x5 film left and I would like to capture some images using the film so it give an Edward Weston feel to it and I feel the detail you can capture using the large format camera will capture the details in the dancers body such as the muscles and the structure.
