Inspiration

Below are some images I found inspirational towards my final integrated assessment. My originally idea was to wait until a dancer has performed then capture a portrait of them as they have just finished so are still filled with emotion and adrenaline and you can see that in there facial expression but after doing some research I found that a University student has already exhibited a project based around this idea and have therefore, had to change my idea.

I came up with another other idea to photograph portraits of dancers, with no make-up, just as they would be when they are rehearsing so not fancy gear but the true them but I captured some test shots (can be seen under portraits- test shots) but even though I asked the girls not to wear make-up they wore make-up and the emotion wasn't behind the image.

Therefore, I decided to try something different from my previous shoots with dancers. I would like to continue capturing dancers as they perform as I feel the emotion can be seen through the image. I have photographed the dancers full length portrait but have not not captured any close ups. I would like to experiment and go a bit surreal and capture some close-ups, and different angles like low down or above and to play around with the images.

I have planned 2 shoots this week so will try those different ideas along with the working with the perform to see what the outcome we can create

Below are some examples of wok I came along on goggles and found to be inspirational.

The 3 images below I find inspirational because of the lighting and the use of the shadows and how it highlights the performers muscles. Its also the strength and emotion from the dancer(s)

I like the use of the lighting and the shadows and the close up of the position of the dancers arms

The two images below I find striking. The strength of the dancers and body structure is captivating. Most of my previous work was about being like the fabric and the movement was very fluent and free. Whereas, I would like to try more strong powerful images.

The two images below is something I was hoping to try, the use on turning the image when editing to give it a different feeling then when it was first captured. I know someone who is very flexible who I would like to bend back and I'll photograph her then flip the image upside down.

I like to use of the wide angle lens and the low camera angles to give to the effect that he is bigger than normal ad how it create a dis formed feel the images

From these images I hope to create some abstract, surreal, dance images.
